Spike:
It didn’t even take two seconds to decide who boyfriend wanted to be from Bebop. With Spike’s attitude it seemed to fit perfectly. Spike is just a character you feel for. And boyfriend plays the role perfectly.

The suit jacket was a heavily altered suit pattern. I had to make the one side longer so that it would fold over and be able to have the light-blue triangle fold over. It was actually annoying to do, because once I had it set, it wouldn’t sit right no matter where I set the jacket closures. Eventually, I found the right places and after that everything seemed to just fall into place.

His pants are simple pants, although I added pockets. I debated for awhile whether to go with the light blue lining or stick with the dark blue for the inside of the pockets. But I felt the light blue looked nicer with the whole outfit.

The yellow shirt underneath was bought since we ran out of time before Dragon*con. It took us awhile to find the right shade too. But the shirt will be made at some point.

The outfit is completed by beatle boots, gun, tie and wig-which again, was styled myself. I’d actually like to thank Arda Wigs for supplying the wig. They are by far, my favorite wig company! I never thought I’d be able to get the correct look I wanted for Spike. A tint of green with black on top, but with lots of patience and sharpies, I dyed the wig. Then it was a matter of making it “fluffy.” This is one of my favorite cosplays that we’ve made.


Faye:
This costume was really quick and easy to make. Cowboy Bebop is a great anime. I love the style and the characters. Anybody that asks what a good anime is to watch, Bebop will always be in the top three. With that in mind, I knew I had to cosplay Faye. She is stubborn and selfish and her past is tragic. I am just drawn to her. This is the first of her outfits I wanted to do. In the future, I’ll have more

The top was a heavily altered dress shirt pattern. It took awhile to get it to lay the way I wanted it to. I still don’t really love the material. It feels thin, and apt to tear. But it has withstood multiple cons so I guess its durable! The red shirt over top of it is just a normal dress shirt that I sewed together.

The shorts were made without a pattern, I just through them together in an hour. They did end up coming out a little shorter than I wanted them, but I think it works. The buttons were made from clay which I coated in a clear paint to make them shiny.

The costume is completed with boots and stockings (which were last minute to find). The wig I styled myself, however I’m not happy with the length so that will be getting redone. The headband I just covered with some leftover material from the shorts and top.
